Lunch and Learn Programs 2011-2012
The public is invited to join the League of Women Voters of Lincoln/Lancaster County on the 2nd Thursday of each month from September 2011, through May 2012 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. for the League of Women Voters Lunch & Learn at the Holiday Inn Downtown, 141 N 9th Street.
Cost is $13 for League members / $15 nonmembers; this includes speaker, buffet lunch, tax and gratuity.
Binding reservations required by noon, the Monday prior to the meeting.

Beatty Brasch, Founder and Executive Director, Center for People In Need, will be speaking on Poverty in Lincoln at the League of Women Voters Lunch & Learn, May 10th, at noon, at the Holiday Inn Downtown, 141 North 9th Street.

Majoring in sociology and with a minor in psychology, she graduated in 1962 with an A.B. Degree from Washington University.

Ms. Brasch was involved in the political process as Coordinator, Lancaster County Democratic Party; Campaign Manager for Helen Boosalis; and as an Election Commissioner before becoming Executive Director, Chief Operating Executive, Lincoln Action Program from 1987 to 2002. In 2003, Brasch became Founder and Executive Director of The Center for People In Need.

She currently sits on the boards of Nebraska Appleseed for Law in the Public Interest as secretary; Human Services Federation Executive Committee as Communications Chair; Lincoln Food Bank; and the Human Services Federation.

The League of Women Voters Lunch Learn events are held on the second Thursday of each month from September to May at noon at The Holiday Inn Downtown, 141 North 9th Street. All lunches are open to the public at a cost of $13 for members, $15 for non members, all inclusive. Binding, reservations, which are due by Monday, May 7th, may be made at lwv-ne@inebraska.com or by calling 402-475-1411, leaving name, number of reservations and contact information (phone and email). This will be our last Lunch and Learn for the season; the 2012-2013 Lunch and Learn series will begin Thursday, September 10th; speaker and subject to be announced.
